Between Gods and Grace

This private collection invites you on a journey through the golden age of printmaking in the 18th and early 19th centuries. Here, two worlds meet that have shaped European art history:

  • The world of mythology:
Where the heroes of antiquity and the gods of Olympus come to life in the masterful engravings of Raffael, Jordaens or Kauffmann. These are images full of drama, morality, and timeless beauty.

  • The gallant scenes:
Where the lightness of being takes centre stage. From the playful nymphs of François Boucher to the witty satires of Claude Gillot – here, life is celebrated as a feast for the senses.

Each sheet in this collection tells three stories:
the story of the ancient myth, the story of the ingenious painter, and the story of the precise copper engraver who used his burin to capture light on paper.
